Still can't get a picture to load to the home page

I'm still having trouble loading a picture to go along with my article on the home page. Using the URL doesn't work for me. What am I doing wrong? I load all my pictures from my computer should I start loading them from my photobucket?

I don't understand what the problem is. If you are using images from your computer, you don't use the URL function - you should use the Upload function.

I'm talking about the picture (not the avatar) that shows up on the home page with the article title. The ones at the bottom. There are two right now on the home page - the snowman and the kid with laptop. We discussed this once before and I couldn't get the image to load where it ask for the URL at the bottom of the publishing page before you submit. You fixed it for me once and but I never could get it to work for some reason.

I just tried again and all I get is a black box. When I right click the image in the article I get these options;
Save image as
Copy image URL (the one I tried)
Copy image
Open image in new tab

Hope all that makes sense.

Thanks Admin.

Oh! That makes more sense.

Take a look at your Vinyl Siding article - the very first image in the article, to be more precise.

I right click that image and choose the "Copy Image URL." That means the URL I have in my "clipboard" is: http://topicspotter.com/images/uploads/1337788056_Dirty%20Vinyl%20Siding.jpg

Next, I go to edit the article. I scroll to the bottom, insert the URL in the box and click "Update Image" and then move the box around on the image to pick the right placement of the image.

Voila! Upon updating the article, I go back to the homepage to see that the image has been saved.

Here are some pictures that demonstrate exactly what I did:

Well, I tried. I did exactly what you show in your above tutorial but it just doesn't seem to work for me. Right now all I see is a black box beside my to clean a bird feeder article on the home page. Maybe it shows for others..?

Thank you for helping and also thanks for adding that lovely image to my featured article and for featuring it. You're the best.

I got it! When I was adding text to my images I tried just copying the link in image editor and wahlah! I worked.
