How To Use TopicSpotter.com

  • Registration and Logging In

  • To become a TopicSpotter member, all you need to do is register an account and then log in using the credentials you provided when you registered. It is easy to sign up at TopicSpotter and there are no hurdles to jump through in order to get an account.
  • What is TopicSpotter.com?

  • You can use TopicSpotter to write articles and make money, and to publish content that will be recognized as authoritative and of the highest quality. You can include rich content, such as videos and images quickly and easily in your articles.
  • How Do I Submit Articles?

  • First, you need to either login or register. After that, you can click on the submit button and enter a title, a description, choose a category, and enter some tags. When you write articles, you can use the text editor to add images and videos to your articles, add links, and even add things like Google Maps and Amazon ads. Of course, if you make a mistake and don't like the way your article looks, you can always go back and find the article you want to change, and click on the "Edit" button to edit the details, or delete the story if you don't like it.
  • What is my Amazon Associates Tracking ID?

  • You can find your Amazon Associates Tracking ID by logging into your Amazon Associates account, and looking at the top left corner of the left sidebar. The tracking ID will look like this: xxxxxx-xx. Go to your Account and click "Edit Profile" to enter your Amazon associate ID. From that point on, all of your articles will display your own Amazon Associate ads 70% of the time!
  • What's With The Avatars?

  • The site is set to display random avatars for each user, and they change every time the page is loaded. If you'd like your own unique avatar, you will need to upload one to Gravatar using the same email address for your account as you used to sign up on TopicSpotter. Otherwise, a neat random avatar will be displayed for you each time you load a page. Also, you will see in the top left corner of the navigation bar a tiny little avatar before the "Home" link. That's a shortcut to your profile!

  • Can I Track My TopicSpotter Traffic?

Yep! Log in, go to your account, click on "Edit Profile" and you will find a place to enter your Google Analytics ID.

Content Guidelines

  • What are the Content Guidelines?

  • When you first sign up at TopicSpotter, your articles will be held for moderation until TopicSpotter's Admin believes you are trustworthy enough to publish content immediately. This moderation hold is to make sure you are not simply joining to spam the site, and to make sure you understand the difference between low and high quality content. We require you to write at least 400 word articles that follow our strict content guidelines.

The TopicSpotter community has taken a strong stance against poor quality and plagiarism! They will report content violations, so it's a good idea to follow the rules :)

For a detailed description of the dos and don'ts, read our content guidelines page thoroughly
  • My articles seem to be deleted, or aren't showing up. How Come?

  • If you have submitted something that I believe is spam, or breaks the rules, I will delete it from TopicSpotter. If something is deleted, you will be notified by email. Please allow up to 24 hours for all articles to be moderated and published after you submit them.
  • I broke the rules, and now I can't log in or create a new account. Why?

If you can't log in, and you are certain that your password and user name combination is correct, I have probably disabled your account, blocked your IP address, submitted your username and IP address to the Stop Forum Spam log so that you won't be able to spam other awesome sites, and I will be watching to see if you come back and spam again. We take a strong stance against spam and content violations.

Making Money

  • So How Exactly Do I Earn Money?

  • Once you write articles and have saved your various ad account IDs in your TopicSpotter account, all of your journals and articles will begin to display your ads 70% of the time. Unlike some other revenue sharing programs, TopicSpotter does not actually "split" the revenue with you. You will earn 100% of the value of a click, sale, etc. - TopicSpotter simply limits how often your ads are displayed to 70% of the time. Note that you must have at least one approved article to earn money on TopicSpotter.com. In other words, journals won't show your ads until you have an approved article first.
  • I wrote an article. How will that earn money?

  • Articles have the potential to make money because they have the potential to be found in the search engines. Search engine traffic is almost always the best traffic for converting visitors into buyers or clickers. To make sure you have the best chance of getting traffic, you will need to do two things: make sure your articles are optimized, and link back to them.
  • How do I link back to my articles?

  • The easiest way to do this is to note the link of your article after it has been submitted, and to bookmark that link on other sites. You can also get strong backlinks to your articles by including anchor text links in other articles across the internet. Your anchor text should be the keyword you are trying to rank for in the search engines. You can also easily spread the word of your articles using the "share" buttons that are located on every article.

  • Do You Have A Referral Program?

Yes! Here at TopicSpotter you can receive 25% of advertising impressions on all of your Referrals' articles. Don't worry, they still get 70%, and it doesn't hurt anyone in any way to be referred... The 25% is deducted from TopicSpotter's share! Please note, however, that you must have at least one approved submission of your own to earn money with referrals.

Other Questions

First, check out the journals to see if the same question has been asked - it will also have been answered. You can also submit a journal post to have your question publicly answered, or simply contact me with your question. I always respond to emails within a day, and usually within just a couple of hours.
